Our Techniques
Our medical professionals employ a wide range of proven techniques for each individual case. Below, you’ll find a brief explanation of the popular chiropractic techniques we use at our practice.
Reinert Specific Diversified, developed by
Dr. Otto C. Reinert, has become a well-recognized technique
within the chiropractic profession. Employed by all Logan
graduates, this technique attempts to correct biomechanical
distortions through the use of high-velocity adjusting.
Logan Basic Technique, founded by Dr. H.B. Logan, is
a system developed to evaluate and treat musculoskeletal
complaints. This technique requires the application of a firm
contact on the sacrotuberous ligament. This in turn leads to
stimulation of the nervous system which causes the muscles of the spine
to relax. This technique is ideal for not only
pregnant patients, but infants and children as well.
Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), founded by Major
Bertrand Dejarnette, is a system of categorization and treatment of
biomechanical dysfunction. This technique requires
specialized sacral blocks in addition to high-velocity adjustments to
correct the various types of distortions created by the three categories
of patients as recognized by Major Dejarnette.
Cox Flexion/Distraction, developed by Dr. James M.
Cox, is a table-assisted technique which uses the weight of the
patient's lower extremity to treat spinal-related
complaints. This technique is both gentle to the patient and
excellent for patients discouraged by traditional high-velocity
adjustments.
Thompson Technique, developed by Dr. J. Clay
Thompson, makes use of specialized drop-piece mechanisms in the table to
assist the adjustment. Individual cushions or "drop pieces"
located along the table support each area of the spine until the thrust
is given. Then, each drop-piece gently gives way, reducing the pressure
needed to move a specific spinal segment.
Graston Technique, founded by David Graston, is a
system of evaluating and treating patients with the use of specialized
instruments constructed with surgical-grade steel.
When coupled with a proprietary emollient, these tools are not only able
to diagnose and treat restrictions in soft tissue, but can also help
reduce scar tissue as well.
Additional therapies
Our office employs many physical therapy modalities, including
ultrasound, electrotherapy, kinesiotaping, and physiotherapy.
These adjunctive modalities compliment the various techniques
utilized at B. Wright Back Chiropractic, Inc. with the intent of
increasing patients' experiences and clinical outcomes.
